Miracle for Marsha
I am a retired physician living in Woodway, Texas. I am writing this letter on behalf of my friend, Marsha Pennington, who has stage 4 chronic kidney disease secondary to juvenile-onset or Type 1 insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Although she has taken excellent care of herself and her diabetes, her kidneys will soon not work well enough to keep her alive. She has recently been placed on the kidney transplant list, which has over 120,000 other patients waiting for a kidney from a deceased donor. Sadly, the average wait time on this list is four years or more and many of these patients either die waiting for a kidney or become too sick to qualify for transplantation.
